Aaliyah was not only full of talent and smooth grooves, she was filled with passion for the music she represented. She was sophisticated in her style and sensual without being indecent. Self confident in herself and her music, we are left with three great albums of a young lady who did it her way. Keeping busy and always making time for her fans, friends, family and those in need was Aaliyah's way of giving back.

It was no doubt that she had what it takes to move up in the entertainment business. Aaliyah was smart, attractive, witty and self-motivated. There were doubts about her ability to act but, 55.9 million in box office sales proved that Aaliyah may have been new to the movie screen but not new to business.

What I personally liked about Aaliyah is she took the business seriously. She was taking it to the next level and that is what a Key Player is made of. Aaliyah is an example of the focus and dedication needed to succeed in the industry. This issue's theme is about artists who have combined their music career into the silver screens. It was our desire to interview Aaliyah for her music success as well as her debut film success and upcoming role in the sequel of the smash hit THE MATRIX. Unfortunately, we never got the opportunity. Her tragic death surprised us all. Although, I never had an opportunity to talk or meet with Aaliyah, I think she lead a life well lived and should be seen as an example for many. At age 22 she really demonstrated and accomplished what many only hope to achieve.

Often we like to ask those who we interview what advice can they give to upcoming artists in the music industry. We'll answer it for her. I think she would say, stay focused, driven and professional. Maintain ethics, be polite and be thankful for your blessings, family, and, good friends.
